About

Hello!

I'm an artist living in Morgantown, WV. I studied oil painting at the WVU School of Art & Design while working on my graphic design degree. This furthered my interest in a life-long love of painting. In 2017, I began exploring watercolor and created Octavia Spriggs Studio, which led to selling paintings and prints of landscapes and botanicals I've encountered on personal travels.

By day, I work as a graphic designer for KeyLogic. 

In my free time, I enjoy being active outdoors, traveling, and experimental cooking with my husband, Steve, and son, Kieran. We have two cats, Elle and Coco aka "Floof". 

Artist's Statement

I am currently focused on creating paintings of West Virginia landscapes that draw out the vivid undertones of foliage and mountaintops as the seasons change. This attention to color palette and light gives a traditional scene a modern feel. I am exploring painting with watercolors on paper and acrylics on canvas or panel at this time. 

Painting and illustration are passions that I explore with full creative freedom. My love for the outdoors provides inspiration and lends itself to the subjects of my paintings. A location’s appearance can differ in moments in time. I’m drawn to changes in light and weather that evoke feelings of awe or nostalgia. My paintings and illustrations are visual time capsules of a specific place or object.

When working on a commissioned painting, I lend my personal painting style to the collaboration of ideas with the client.
